Join NSBA on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 11:30 a.m. EDT as we discuss the SBA’s proposal to change the small-business size standards with Emily Murphy, former Administrator of the General Services Administration (GSA), for a policy briefing to discuss the SBA’s proposal to change the small-business size standards.
On Aug. 20, SBA issued a new proposed rule to overhaul the current federal small business size standards which would decrease the current North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) categories from nearly 1,000 to just 338. This shift could open the door to larger businesses not only qualifying for small-business set-asides but being counted toward the federal contracting goal.
During our issue briefing, we’ll talk with Emily Murphy who ran the GSA from 2017 to 2021 and increased GSA sales by over $20 billion. Previously, she was GSA’s inaugural Chief Acquisition Officer (CAO) from 2005-2007. Murphy has a strong background with small business, having served as the Acting Associate Administrator for Government Contracting in the U.S. Small Business Administration; she also held multiple policy and leadership roles on the House Committee on Small Business.
